Documentation history (2025 to 2026)

Generations D and E

The line is documented in two active generations. Generation D covers A1 refrigerants (R-404A, R-448A, R-449A, R-507, and related blends) and transcritical CO2, and is AWEF compliant. Generation E is the A2L generation: it adds the mildly flammable low-GWP refrigerants R-454A, R-454C, and R-455A that new refrigeration equipment is moving to in the U.S. low-GWP transition.

Generation E equipment carries the A2L safety package alongside the refrigerant change. The GEN E bulletin lists an A2L Refrigerant Detection System (RDS), a leak mitigation system built on safety shut off valves (SSOV) and check shut off valves (CSOV), and the ESP+ evaporator control as factory options. It also narrows the SmartSpeed EC motor statement to 230 V and 460 V models, a caveat the combined bulletin does not carry.

CO2 sits only on the generation D side of the documentation. The combined bulletin defines three CO2 application classes (C, D, and F) and two 575 V CO2 voltage codes (S5 and T5); the GEN E bulletin does not mention CO2 at all. Whether CO2 models continue past generation D is not something the current documentation answers.
